Description
Journeyman Carpenter
Joinery Structures | Residential Remodeling and Cabinet Installation
Pay: $30–$50 per hour
Office base: West Oakland, CA 94607. Work is at assigned Bay Area project sites.
Joinery Structures is seeking an experienced journeyman carpenter with strong cabinet installation skills for residential remodeling projects throughout the Bay Area. We’re looking for someone who can read plans, assess existing conditions, organize assigned work, and carry an installation through to a clean, accurate finish.
Your responsibilities
- Complete assigned carpentry to the plans, specifications and approved details, with high-quality craftsmanship in the allotted time. Check layout, fit, alignment, fastening and finish; raise drawing conflicts, unexpected conditions and time constraints before proceeding.
- Coordinate with the Lead Carpenter and Site Superintendent, other carpenters, apprentices and trades. Take notes when receiving instructions or reviewing details. Confirm the work sequence and material needs for your assignment, and communicate progress, missing information and problems promptly.
- Use hand and power tools to install windows, frames, trim, hardware, cabinets and other assigned components. Protect occupied homes and completed finishes, keep your work area organized, and follow through on quality checks and punch work.
- Take responsibility for your workmanship, conduct and jobsite appearance. When other carpenters or apprentices are assigned to work under your direction, explain the task, check their work and hold them to the same standards within the assignment given by field leadership.
- Wear safety glasses and hearing protection throughout the workday and dust masks when required. Use tools and equipment safely and report unsafe tools or equipment to the manager.
- Record hours worked each day and present a screenshot of logged time to the Site Superintendent for daily review.
The scope below describes Joinery’s residential carpentry work. Assignments depend on the project, your demonstrated skills and direction from field leadership. You do not need to be an expert in every specialty, but you should have a solid residential carpentry foundation and be able to explain the work you can complete independently.
