All commercial work, new construction, some renovation projects replacing electrical wiring, electrical panel boards, circuit breakers.

NO SERVICE WORK.

Tools and PPE required. Current Electrical license.

Key Responsibilities

A Journeyman Electrician is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, outlets, panelboards, switchgear, and electrical machines in homes, offices, and industrial facilities.

Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics to plan electrical systems.

Inspecting electrical components such as transformers, circuit breakers, and control systems to identify and troubleshoot issues.

Ensuring all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations.

Supervising or mentoring Apprentice Electricians and coordinating with Master Electricians on complex projects.

Handling emergency repairs efficiently to minimize downtime.

Maintaining tools, equipment, and inventory, and documenting work performed for cost and compliance purposes.

Qualifications and Skills

To become a Journeyman Electrician, candidates typically need:
A high school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of a state-registered apprenticeship program, usually lasting 4–5 years, combining classroom instruction and hands-on training.

A valid state license or certification to practice as a Journeyman Electrician.

Skills in troubleshooting, electrical installation, and repair, along with knowledge of safety procedures and electrical codes.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team, communicate effectively with clients, and mentor apprentices.
