Journeyman Roofer Job Description
Summary:
Journeyman Roofer’s primary duty is expertise in full roof replacements for single family and small multi-family residences located in the SF Peninsula and North Santa Clara County. The Journeyman Roofer must comply with Company safety and installation quality standards. The Company prides itself on providing excellent customer service and quality roofing and the Journeyman Roofer is required to perform his/her duties in a manner than promotes the Company’s excellent reputation. The Journeyman Roofer performs his/her work under the direction of the General Manager/Production Manager
Principal Journeyman Roofer Responsibilities:
• Support all aspects of residential re-roofing installations including the following:
o Expertise in installation of roofing products in a manner that adheres to manufacturer specifications.
o Dry-rot lumber replacement.
o Proper installation of flashings.
o Compliance with Company safety program.
o Compliance with Company policies and procedures.
o Support the sales team to resolve questions on roof details that are encountered in quoting the work as well as during the actual completion of the work.
o Provide necessary job information to production management in order to minimize surprises regarding job requirements.
- Become knowledgeable in new re-roofing applications and manufacturer specifications for products that the Company chooses to work with.
- Represent the Company in a responsible and professional manner in order to protect and enhance our reputation for quality roofing services and to promote client referrals.
- Have dependable transportation to and from job site.
- Occasional climbing and standing (up to 3 hours)
- Occasional reaching above and below shoulder level (up to 3 hours)
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs. (up to 3 hours) – A bundle of shingle weighs about 60 lbs. and employee needs to be able to carry a bundle for up to 10 feet, as needed
- Frequent bending at neck and waist (up to 3-6 hours)

- Working at heights of up to two stories
- Climbing ladders up to 30 feet high
Work Location and Regular Shift: Normally, you will not report to work at the Company office, unless specifically requested to do so. Instead you will be given instructions in advance of the start of your scheduled shift to report to work at the job address for the job you are assigned to. Normally, your scheduled shift will be nine (9) hours, weather permitting, including meal and rest breaks as required by applicable law. You may be required to work additional hours and your work schedule may be changed to meet the needs of the business.
Compensation and Reporting Hours Worked: This is a non- exempt position. You will be paid hourly for all hours worked, less payroll deductions and all required withholdings. You are required to obtain approval from the General Manager or Production Manager to work overtime, and when you work overtime, you will be paid overtime compensation at the overtime rates required by applicable law. You must report your hours worked on a daily basis, including your start and stop times, meal periods, and rest periods of more than 20 minutes via timesheet application.
