Land Surveying Technician

Terra Land Surveys, LLC, a professional surveying firm serving public and private clients throughout New Mexico, is seeking a motivated Land Surveying Technician to join our team in the Albuquerque area.

This is an entry-level field position ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has strong attention to detail, and is interested in building a career in land surveying and geospatial services. The successful candidate will work as part of a survey crew on topographic surveys, boundary surveys, right-of-way surveys, and construction staking projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist survey crews with field data collection for boundary, topographic, right-of-way, and construction staking projects.
• Set up, carry, and maintain survey equipment, tools, stakes, flagging, and supplies.
• Support the operation of survey instruments such as GPS/GNSS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors, and related field technology.
• Record accurate field notes, measurements, sketches, and job-site observations.
• Work safely and efficiently in outdoor field conditions, including varying terrain and weather.
• Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, clients, and contractors when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional approach to field vehicles, equipment, and job sites.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to learn.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in basic mathematics and ability to work with measurements accurately.
• Comfortable using technology and learning survey-related equipment and software.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
• Ability to perform physical field work, including walking over uneven terrain, carrying equipment, and working outdoors for extended periods.
• Previous surveying, construction, engineering, or outdoor field experience is helpful but not required.
