Landscape Construction Foreman

Summary: The Landscape Construction Crew Member is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks in order to manage the timely completion of landscape construction contracts. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Landscape Construction Foreman with a minimum of 5 years of proven field experience to join our growing team. Unlike entry-level roles, this position requires a professional who can hit the ground running with softscape installation, hardscape assembly, and irrigation troubleshooting. You will work alongside the Owner and Project Manager to execute high-end residential landscape projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Job Duties: Perform job duties as described below, in a professional and safe manner.
 Read and interpret plans/drawings and specifications to perform work activities.
 Assist in the preparation of job sites prior to construction. Excavate, grade, and prepare site by removing existing hardscape and/or softscape.
 Operate various tools and equipment, including chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
 Layout mainlines and lateral lines, dig trenches, set up drip irrigation, and install valves and controllers.
 Installation of low-voltage lighting systems.
 Assist in the construction of walkways, pavers, flagstone, brick, etc.
 Plant garden beds, slopes, and lawns.
 Maintain a clean, organized job site and strictly adhere to California OSHA safety rules.
 Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects.
 Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, and hand lifting and carrying.
 Assist Landscape Construction Foreman and Owner with job-related tasks.
 Comply with all company policies and regulations.
 Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations.
 Follow instructions of project manager, and owner.
 Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning.
 Keep truck, trailer, tools, and equipment clean and orderly.
 Be on time everyday.
 Inspect all work for quality to eliminate the need for return visits and/or re-work due to quality or customer satisfaction issue.

Requirements:
 Minimum 5 years of dedicated landscape construction or hardscape experience. General lawn mowing or basic maintenance experience will not qualify for this tier.
 California driver’s license
 Ability to perform landscape installation tasks to industry standards Work near heavy and loud equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
 Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
 Effective communication skills
 Must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, and complete daily timesheet
 Time management skills
 Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools, and equipment required to complete various landscape construction practices
 Ability to work both independently with little supervision and as part of a team

Work Conditions:
 Focus on safety. You are responsible for the people and site around you.
 Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and landscape materials.
 Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift up to 50 pounds or more.
 Requires good manual dexterity and excellent stamina.
 Work outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold.
 Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
 Be able to work outdoors in various positions including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, walking, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
 Vehicles, trailers, and machines are to be cleaned and kept safe by everyone who uses them.
 Be respectful of noise and debris on each job site.
 Always be safe and mindful when using company vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
