About the Position

Landtrends is seeking an experienced Landscape Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the care of high-end custom residential gardens throughout San Diego County.

This position combines crew leadership, horticultural expertise, quality control, and professional client communication. The ideal candidate takes pride in exceptional gardens, recognizes small details before they become problems, and can teach crews how to maintain each property to a consistently high standard.

Responsibilities

Supervise, train, and support landscape maintenance crews across multiple residential properties.

Organize daily routes, crew assignments, equipment, and materials to complete work efficiently and thoroughly.

Conduct regular property inspections and follow through on identified maintenance needs.

Develop seasonal care schedules for pruning, fertilization, turf care, irrigation, and plant health.

Guide proper pruning practices that preserve plant health, natural form, and the original landscape design.

Identify plant stress, irrigation problems, pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies; coordinate appropriate corrective work.

Oversee irrigation inspections, controller adjustments, water management, and repair needs.

Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, and company leadership.

Maintain property notes, photographs, work orders, and records of completed and upcoming tasks.

Recommend plant replacements and landscape improvements; assist with estimating and coordinating approved work.

Monitor labor hours, material use, and service quality.

Enforce safe work practices and proper care of vehicles, tools, and equipment.

Work alongside crews when needed to demonstrate techniques and meet quality expectations.

Required Qualifications

At least five years of landscape maintenance experience, including one year in a supervisory or crew leadership role.

Experience maintaining high-end residential landscapes or estate gardens.

Strong knowledge of Southern California plants, including trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, succulents, and Mediterranean planting palettes.

Practical experience with irrigation systems, seasonal plant care, detailed pruning, and turf maintenance.

Ability to lead respectfully, give clear direction, and hold crews accountable.

Strong organizational skills and consistent follow-through.

Professional communication skills and discretion when working at private residences.

Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for scheduling, photographs, and job documentation.

Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable for company vehicle insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual English and Spanish.

Experience overseeing multiple maintenance crews and properties.

Horticulture education or relevant landscape certifications..

Experience preparing maintenance budgets, estimates, and enhancement proposals.

Work Environment
