Landscape/Maintenance Services Supervisor

Position Overview:

We are seeking a responsible and dedicated Landscape Services Supervisor to lead our landscape services crew in serving our existing residential maintenance accounts, while also acquiring new ones. The Supervisor will also estimate, schedule, and oversee additional small-scale jobs such as seasonal pruning, mulch spreading, and yard cleanups.

1) Essential Duties & Functions:
Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with both existing and new customers by providing prompt communication, professional advice, and responsive service to meet their landscape maintenance needs.

Team Leadership: Hire, train, and coach the landscape services crew while fostering a safe, respectful, and positive work environment.

Budgeting & Reporting: Manage accounts and jobs to agreed-upon fee structure and optimize profitability. Provide regular updates to the General Manager on new customer growth, existing customer feedback, team performance, and any operational needs.

Sustainable Practices: Promote and implement environmentally friendly landscaping techniques, including Integrated Pest Management, native plant installation, drip irrigation, organic gardening methods, and pollinator-friendly practices.

Marketing Support: Collaborate with Evergreen’s management team to implement effective seasonal marketing tactics to sustainably grow our local residential customer base.

Safety Compliance: Ensure all landscaping activities adhere to state and local regulations regarding workplace safety and any environmentally mandated rules such as restricted use of gasoline-based equipment.

Quality Assurance: Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure all landscape crew’s work meets company standards and customer expectations.

2) Skills & Competencies:
Horticultural Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant varieties, plant care needs, pruning techniques, basic landscape design principles, and sustainable gardening practices.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and team members.

Leadership Abilities: Proven experience in supervising a landscape services team with strong motivational and coaching skills.

Customer Service Orientation: A genuine commitment to helping customers and a commitment to exceptional service.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify operational challenges and develop effective solutions quickly and efficiently.

Organizational Skills: Strong ability to schedule, multi-task, and prioritize daily workload under changing conditions including weather, repairs, crew availability, etc.

Technical Proficiency: High competency with PC-based computers, plus Google drive organization, Google Mail environment, and text-based communication.

Language Skills: English language skills required. Spanish language skills or strong aptitude with translation tools are both helpful and highly desirable.

3) Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years managing a landscape maintenance crew, or a similar role, with a track record of successful service and client satisfaction.

Education: Coursework in Horticulture, Landscape Design, or closely related fields is highly desirable.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with basic computer software, email programs, and cellular phones.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs without restriction, to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and to perform regular physical labor as required.

Drivers License: Provide proof of valid California driver’s license.
