Description
We are an established, family-owned lawn and landscape company that has been serving the local area for over 30 years. We are looking for a dependable, motivated Lawn & Shrub Spray Technician to join our team.
Previous lawn spray experience is NOT required — we provide paid training. However, previous experience working in an outdoor job IS required.
This is a physically active position performed outdoors year-round, including during Florida's extreme summer heat and humidity. We are looking for applicants who are already accustomed to working full days outdoors.
Previous outdoor experience may include lawn maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, construction, roofing, pool service, pressure washing, tree service, pest control, agriculture, outdoor route work or other physically demanding outdoor occupations.
PAID TRAINING PROVIDED
The right candidate will receive a combination of paid classroom instruction and hands-on field training to learn the technical skills required for the position.
Training includes:
- Identifying common lawn, shrub, insect, disease, and pest issues
- Proper lawn and shrub treatment methods
- Residential perimeter pest-control treatments
- Calculating chemical formulations and application rates
- Accurately measuring and mixing treatment products
- Safe handling and application of lawn, shrub, and pest-control products
- Proper use of spray equipment
- Operating a large lawn spray truck
- Accurately documenting completed services
- Professional customer communication
SCHEDULE
Our normal work schedule is Monday through Thursday, approximately 8–10 hours per day.
Weekly hours vary depending on route size, weather, season and workload. Some weeks may be approximately 35 hours, while others may be closer to 40 hours. A guaranteed 40-hour workweek is not part of this position.
Fridays are generally kept open but may be used as rain/weather makeup days when necessary.
Applicants with lawn maintenance and/or landscaping experience may have opportunities for additional hours when available. During lighter spray-route days or slower treatment weeks, technicians with lawn maintenance experience may assist our mowing crews as needed. Landscaping experience may also provide opportunities to assist with landscape projects when available, including occasional Friday work.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Previous experience working in an outdoor occupation required
- Dependable, punctual, and consistent attendance
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Self-motivated and able to work independently throughout the day
- Comfortable performing physical work in Florida heat and humidity
- Able to follow detailed treatment procedures and instructions
- Comfortable with basic math and chemical calculations
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Professional and courteous when interacting with customers
- Comfortable using a smartphone/mobile device for daily work
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
This position requires driving and operating a large company spray truck. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record that meets company vehicle insurance requirements.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Background check required
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to consistently report to work on time
Lawn spray experience is NOT required. We will train the right person.
However, previous outdoor work experience is required because of the physical nature of the position and the amount of time spent working outdoors in Florida weather.
Experience in lawn maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, pest control, construction, or another outdoor trade is a plus.
