Benjis Autobody is looking for an experienced, hands on Lead Body Technician / Labor Foreman who can do the work himself while also keeping production moving.

This is not a desk only management position. We need someone who knows auto body repair, understands repair orders, knows how to identify the parts and materials needed, and can lead the shop from teardown through completion.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Perform hands-on collision/body repairs yourself

Lead and direct body technicians throughout the repair process
Review repair orders and understand what needs to be done
Identify parts, materials, clips, hardware, and other items needed to complete repairs
Help ensure parts are ordered, received, checked, and available when technicians need them
Keep vehicles moving through the shop and prevent production from stopping
Organize and prioritize vehicles based on repair stage and parts availability
Monitor production and make sure jobs are progressing every day
Coordinate with parts personnel, estimators, painters, and technicians
Check vehicles during teardown and repair to identify additional damage or needed operations
Make sure technicians have the information and materials needed to keep working
Help maintain accurate inventory of parts and shop materials
Keep track of missing, delayed, incorrect, or damaged parts
Make sure vehicles are properly moved from one department/stage to the next
Identify production problems before they become delays
Hold technicians accountable for completing assigned work
Maintain quality standards and make sure repairs are being completed correctly
Help train and guide less-experienced technicians
Keep the shop organized and productive
Communicate directly with management about job status, delays, parts issues, and production needs

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:

Has strong collision/body repair experience
Has experience as a Lead Technician, Foreman, Shop Foreman, or similar position
Can read and understand repair orders and estimates
Understands how a collision repair job should flow from teardown → parts → body → mechanical → paint → reassembly → delivery
Knows how to identify what parts and materials are required
Can manage multiple vehicles at different stages of repair
Understands production and knows how to keep technicians working
Is organized and pays attention to details
Can communicate effectively with technicians and management
Can make decisions and solve problems without waiting to be told what to do
Is comfortable getting on the floor and doing the work
Takes ownership of the vehicles assigned to the shop
Has high standards for quality and workmanship
Can work in a fast-paced collision repair environment

THE RIGHT PERSON WILL BE:

A true working Foreman — someone who can put down the clipboard, pick up the tools, repair a vehicle, and then turn around and organize the crew and keep the rest of the shop moving.

We need someone who understands that a vehicle sitting in the shop doing nothing costs the business money.

Your job is to keep production moving.

If a technician is waiting for a part, you find out why.

If a vehicle is stuck, you figure out what it needs.

If a repair order is missing an operation, you catch it.

If parts are missing, you address it.

If production is falling behind, you get involved.

If the team needs help, you lead from the front.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Collision/body repair experience is required.

Lead/Foreman experience is strongly preferred.

Experience with repair orders, parts coordination, production management, teardown, estimating, and collision repair workflow is a major plus.
