Position Title: Lead Carpenter
Reports To: Project Manager / Owner
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Lead Carpenter with five years of experience to oversee and perform the construction of residential decks, fences, pergolas, and related outdoor structures. The Lead Carpenter will manage job sites, lead crew members, ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently, and maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a crew of carpenters and laborers on multiple job sites.
Read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and permit requirements.
Construct decks, fences, gates, pergolas, railings, and other outdoor structures according to company standards and local building codes.
Coordinate daily work activities, material deliveries, and project schedules.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality expectations.
Train, mentor, and develop crew members in proper construction techniques and safety practices.
Perform site layout, measurements, framing, concrete work, and finish carpentry.
Conduct job site inspections to ensure workmanship meets company and code requirements.
Communicate professionally with homeowners, subcontractors, suppliers, and management.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Troubleshoot construction challenges and make field decisions as needed.
Track labor hours, project progress, and material usage.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Qualifications:
Required:
5+ years of carpentry experience, preferably in deck and fence construction.
2+ years of leadership or crew supervision experience.
Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and building codes.
Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
Experience with power tools, hand tools, and construction equipment.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift 75+ pounds.
Able and willing to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred:
Experience with composite decking systems, aluminum railings, and custom outdoor living projects.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Forklift, skid steer, or equipment operation experience.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
