Lead Carpenter – High-End Residential Remodeling | Sacramento, CA

Mills Builders is a Sacramento-based residential general contractor specializing in high-quality remodeling and renovation. We are looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our growing team.

POSITION

We’re looking for a hands-on Lead Carpenter who takes pride in their work, can work independently, and has a strong understanding of residential construction. This is a process-oriented position with an opportunity to grow into a Project Manager role as the company continues to grow.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 5+ years of residential construction experience, preferably in high-end remodeling
• Strong experience with framing and interior trim/finish carpentry
• Working knowledge of concrete and foundation work
• General knowledge of residential remodeling and construction
• Able to work independently and take initiative
• Good judgment and problem-solving skills
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Strong communication and people skills
• Comfortable using apps, technology, and digital tools
• Able to learn, follow, and improve company processes
• Interested in helping develop and improve SOPs
• Interested in growing into a Project Manager position
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and perform carpentry work on high-end residential remodeling projects
• Handle framing, interior trim, finish carpentry, and other general carpentry
• Assist with concrete and foundation-related work
• Work alongside and coordinate with subcontractors and other trades
• Read and understand plans and project details
• Identify and solve problems in the field
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site
• Communicate project information and issues clearly
• Use company apps and technology for documentation and communication
• Follow company processes and help improve them as needed
• Take ownership of work and see projects through to completion

ADDITIONAL TRADE EXPERIENCE

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

• Concrete
• Plumbing
• Electrical
• Painting
• Drywall
• Siding/stucco
• Exterior trim
• Tile
• Other residential remodeling trades

Mills Builders is continuing to build and improve its systems as the company grows. We’re looking for someone who enjoys organization, processes, and finding better ways to do things.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to help develop and improve company processes and SOPs while taking on more responsibility. There is room to grow within the Lead Carpenter position, with the potential to move into a Project Manager role.
