Description

Olczak General Contractors, Inc.

Olczak General Contractors, Inc. (OGC) was founded in 2025 to meet a growing need – a better way to design and build. No project is too small or too ambitious. Every collaboration is an opportunity to create something meaningful, elevate craft, and leave the world better than we found it.

At Olczak General Contractors, we work seamlessly alongside the architecture and design team at Olczak Group to offer a design build process that unites design and construction from concept to completion, delivering smarter, faster, and better results. We transform inspired ideas into exceptional realities with simplicity and efficiency – eliminating the complexity and fragmented oversight that slows progress and drives up costs in traditional project delivery.

At our core, we balance creativity and curiosity with high performance — producing thoughtful, enduring places for living that serve real people and real needs. We’re not just shaping homes, buildings, interiors and landscapes — we’re crafting experiences, solving complex problems, and setting a new standard for how projects are delivered.

We’re here to rethink what’s possible – and then build it.

The Lead Carpenter is a skilled craftsperson and on-site crew lead responsible for executing rough carpentry, fine finish work, and building envelope detailing, including waterproofing, on high-end residential design-build projects. This individual demonstrates precision, professionalism, and a deep understanding of construction sequencing, and leads the carpentry crew in upholding the design intent and safety standards on every job.

The Lead Carpenter collaborates closely with the Superintendent, Project Lead, and design team to ensure that all elements, from structural framing to exterior weatherproofing and interior finishes, are executed with care, foresight, and high quality. This role requires clear communication, an eye for detail, and strong leadership.

  • Waterproofing: Implement best practices for weatherproofing assemblies including flashing, rain screens, window/door integration, deck membranes, and below-grade systems.
  • Interpret and build from construction drawings, shop drawings, and technical details with minimal supervision.
  • Use tools and equipment safely and accurately; maintain tools and jobsite conditions with responsibility.
Crew Leadership:

  • Lead and coordinate the daily work of carpenters and laborers to maintain flow, quality, and schedule
  • Collaborate with jobsite Superintendents, Project Leads and subcontractors to sequence work and solve complex field conditions.
  • Conduct site protection, surface prep, and material installation with exceptional care and cleanliness.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite at all times
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety protocols
Communication & Documentation:

  • Communicate regularly with the Superintendent and Project Lead to report progress, issues, and updates
  • Track field changes and coordinate with the Superintendent on revisions and clarifications
  • Assist with field documentation (photos, notes, punch lists)
  • Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and progress.
  • Participate in team discussions on sequencing, coordination, and project planning.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent on scheduling and estimating for self-performed carpentry labor
Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in modern residential carpentry including rough framing and finish work, with experience leading a crew
  • Hands-on experience with building envelope protection systems (e.g., WRBs, flashings, sill pans, waterproof membranes) and sequencing
  • Ability to interpret architectural and construction details related to waterproofing and drainage.
  • Working knowledge of local building codes, particularly as they relate to moisture control and exterior assemblies.
  • Deep understanding of construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and site safety
