Lead Carpenter/Project Manager/2-3 Year Business Takeover Path

Are you a highly skilled remodeling professional who wants to own a business but doesn't want to build it from scratch?
I am 64 years old and looking to transition into retirement over the next 2 to 3 years. Instead of just hiring another hourly employee, I am looking to bring on a Lead Carpenter/Project Manager with the explicit intent to transfer ownership of my established remodeling company.
You will start as a well-paid hourly field leader. Over the next 24 to 36 months, you will gradually take over operations, estimating, and client management, culminating in a complete buyout of the business, its goodwill, and its assets.
⏳ THE TRANSITION TIMELINE
Months 1–6 (The Mutual Trial): You will work in the field running projects. We will use a structured 90-day milestone checklist to ensure a perfect fit regarding your craftsmanship, leadership, and reliability.
Months 6–12 (Locking in the Deal): Once we both agree it's a fit, we will work with a certified CPA/attorney to lock in a fixed, fair baseline valuation of the business. You won't have to pay a higher price later for business growth you help build.
Years 2–3 (The Hand-off): You will step into the owner/operator role while executing a structured buyout.
💼 HOW THE BUYOUT IS STRUCTURED (No Huge Cash Upfront Required)
We know that an exceptional carpenter rarely has hundreds of thousands of dollars in liquid cash ready to go. To make this realistic for the right person, we are open to flexible deal structures:
Seller Financing: You buy the business, and you pay me back over a 3-to-5-year term using a fixed percentage of the ongoing business profits.
Performance Earn-Out: A structured model where the purchase price is paid out as a percentage of gross revenues from the projects you bring in and complete.

We focus strictly on high-quality, residential kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. To be considered, you must possess:
7–10+ Years of Experience: Advanced, hands-on skills in finish carpentry, framing, custom tile work, drywall finishing, plumbing/electrical basics, and structural remodeling.
Leadership Mindset: Clean appearance, excellent client communication, and a desire to learn business logistics (estimating, sourcing, and scheduling).
Reliability: Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a reliable truck/vehicle.
