Lead Excavator Operator – Underground Utilities

Houston Area | Full-Time | Competitive Pay

EPB is seeking an experienced Lead Excavator Operator to join our underground utility construction team. This position is for a highly skilled operator who can safely and efficiently perform deep excavations for water, sewer, and storm sewer installations.

Responsibilities

Operate large excavators safely and productively on underground utility projects.
Excavate trenches for water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer installation.
Install, move, and remove trench boxes, slide rail systems, and other shoring systems.
Perform deep excavations exceeding 20 feet in depth.
Work closely with pipe layers and ground crews to maintain production and safety.
Expose existing utilities without damage.
Perform daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance concerns.
Follow company safety policies and OSHA trenching requirements at all times.
Qualifications
Extensive experience operating large excavators.
Mandatory experience installing, working with, and excavating around trench boxes.
Experience with slide rail systems, hydraulic shoring, and other trench protection systems is preferred.
Proven experience performing deep utility trenching and pipe installation.
Strong understanding of excavation safety and trench hazards.
Ability to work safely around existing underground utilities.
Dependable, safety-focused, and capable of leading excavation activities in the field.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.

The right candidate can safely dig around existing utilities, work effectively with pipe crews, properly install trench protection systems, and consistently achieve production without compromising safety.
