Description
Parched Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced, multi-skilled Lead Facilities & HVAC/R Technician to manage the operational health of our properties. In this role, you will serve as our primary in-house specialist responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all commercial refrigeration equipment and HVAC systems across our venues.
Our company has 12 locations throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn, therefore you will be required to travel throughout the week to work on various equipment issues at each location.
Because hospitality never sleeps, you will also handle general facility maintenance, including minor electrical and plumbing repairs, to ensure our venues run smoothly, safely, and without disruption to our guests' experience.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC & Commercial Refrigeration (Primary Focus)
Refrigeration Maintenance: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers/freezers, reach-in units, low-boys, glass chillers, and commercial ice machines.
HVAC Systems: Oversee preventive maintenance, routine servicing, and repairs on rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, and exhaust/makeup air hoods.
Diagnostics & EPA Compliance: Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, leak testing, and charging in strict compliance with EPA regulations.
Emergency Response: Promptly address critical cooling and climate failures to prevent food loss and maintain guest comfort.
General Facilities, Plumbing & Electrical
Minor Electrical: Troubleshoot and fix light fixtures, ballast/LED drivers, switches, outlets, breakers, and basic control wiring.
Minor Plumbing: Repair minor pipe leaks, clear drain clogs, replace faucets/valves, maintain grease traps, and service basic restroom/kitchen fixtures.
Vendor Management: Assist in overseeing external contractors for large-scale installation projects or specialized repairs outside the in-house scope.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience specifically dedicated to commercial HVAC and refrigeration service and repair (Hospitality or Restaurant industry experience strongly preferred but not necessary).
Multi-Trade Aptitude: Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and resolving minor commercial plumbing and electrical issues.
Technical Skills: Ability to read electrical schematics, piping diagrams, and equipment manuals quickly and accurately.
Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, or on-call rotation to handle urgent operational emergencies.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift 40+ lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand for extended periods.
Weekly Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday. 50 hour work week. Hours may fluctuate based on needs of the week.
Preferred Qualifications
Trade school degree, completion of an apprenticeship, or relevant mechanical license.
Prior experience working inside high-volume commercial kitchens, hotel properties, or multi-unit restaurant group preferred but not necessary.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
