Lead Fine Gardener

We are a family and women-owned business specializing in high-end residential fine gardening. We're looking for a seasoned, knowledgeable gardener with leadership experience ready to grow into a lead role on our expanding team. The work schedule is , Monday–Thursday, 7:30 am–3:30 - 4:30pm, with Fridays as an optional rain day. The season runs April–November/December. Compensation: $22–$26/hr based on experience.

Lead Gardener Responsibilities

Organizing and delegating daily tasks to ensure efficient, quality work across properties; keeping the team on schedule; supporting and training team members; driving the company truck and trailer; overseeing tool and equipment care; maintaining clear communication with ownership; completing job documentation and CRM tools.

Gardening Responsibilities

Deadheading, weeding, and bed maintenance; skilled hand pruning of shrubs and trees; applying fertilizers and soil amendments; planting and maintaining seasonal containers; assisting with new plantings, transplants, and perennial divisions; monitoring plants for stress, disease, or pest pressure.

The Ideal Candidate

• 3–5+ years of hands-on fine gardening or horticulture experience
• Strong plant knowledge — ornamentals, shrubs, and trees common to New England
• Confident hand pruning skills with solid understanding of technique and timing
• Proven experience leading a small team — able to delegate, teach, and keep a crew focused
• A compassionate, organized, detail-oriented presence who leads by example
• Clear communicator; comfortable with basic documentation
• Valid driver's license required; truck and trailer experience preferred
