Lead Framer / Carpenter - Second in Command - $45/hr (Marin County)

Ok We're a high-end residential general contractor in Marin County -- full renovations and custom homes, project sizes vary. Our site supervisor needs a right hand: a lead framer he can leave on the job knowing the crew keeps moving, the cuts are right, and the layout is true.

This is NOT a replace-the-boss role. It's the #2 seat. When our supervisor is on another site, you run the framing: you read the plans, plan the cuts, draw the layouts, and keep the crew productive.

WHAT YOU MUST BE ABLE TO DO:

• Read a full set of plans -- architectural and structural -- and frame from them without hand-holding
• Lay out walls, openings, and hardware from the drawings
• Frame roofs: rafters, hips, valleys, California framing -- cut work, not just trusses
• Frame stairs: stringers laid out and cut right the first time
• Direct a small crew: assign cuts, check work, keep the day planned. This is a LEAD role -- you're on the tools every day, but your job is to run a team and multiply them, not to try to build everything with your own two hands
• Read hardware callouts (Simpson schedules, shear walls, hold-downs)

YOU WILL BE TESTED. Plan reading, layout, and framing knowledge -- on real drawings, before any offer. If that sounds fair, you're who we're looking for. If it sounds insulting, we're not for you.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years framing experience, at least some of it leading others
• Own transportation and hand tools
• Reliable -- the crew is counting on you being there
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
