About the job
Pro Diesel & Truck Repair is a heavy-duty truck and trailer repair shop in Joliet, IL. We maintain an affiliated flatbed fleet of about 40 trucks plus trailers, so the work is steady year-round. We're looking for an experienced diesel mechanic who can lead the shop floor — someone who can turn wrenches, run diagnostics, and keep the other mechanics on track.
What you'll do:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, aftertreatment systems (DPF/DEF/SCR), electrical, air brakes, suspension, and drivetrain on Class 8 trucks and trailers
- Perform preventive maintenance and DOT annual inspections
- Assign and check work for other mechanics, and step in on the tough diagnostic jobs
- Keep repair orders, parts ordering, and shop paperwork organized
- Communicate with dispatch and drivers on repair status and priorities
- Keep the shop safe, clean, and organized
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with heavy-duty diesel trucks
- Experience leading or mentoring other mechanics
- Comfortable with diagnostic software (Cummins INSITE, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link, JPRO, or similar)
- Valid driver's license
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and stay on your feet all day
- CDL (for test drives)
- FMCSA annual inspector / brake inspector qualification
- Welding and fabrication skills
