Lead Shop Technician - Door Refinishing and Restoration

Door Renew is a fast-growing company specializing in on-site and in-shop restoration and refinishing of exterior and interior doors. We work on all types of doors, wood, fibre-glass and metal/steel door. We are seeking a Lead Shop Technician to oversee daily shop operations and lead our door refinishing team.

About the Role:

As Lead Shop Technician, you will be responsible for managing the workflow in our refinishing shop, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship on every door, and mentoring junior technicians. This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for someone who takes pride in quality work and enjoys leading a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the shop team to meet production schedules
• Perform sanding, staining, finishing, and refinishing of wood and fiberglass doors
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets Door Renew quality standards
• Train and mentor junior shop technicians
• Maintain shop equipment, tools, and a clean, safe work environment
• Manage inventory of finishing materials and supplies

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in woodworking, refinishing, painting, or a related skilled trade
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Leadership experience or a desire to grow into a leadership role
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage priorities
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for extended periods
