Adcorp Signs, Inc. has been in business for 35 years and is looking to hire a full-time lead sign installer/ journeyman carpenter. The applicant must have a minimum of 3 years experience working as a carpenter or sign installer. Employment references are required. The applicant must also have a valid Maryland driver’s license and a clean driving record. Adcorp has a no tolerance drug policy for our drivers, including medical and recreational marijuana. All applicants must agree to background check, fingerprinting and drug test, which is required by the Maryland Public School System for persons working in schools. The applicant must act in a professional manner at all times on job sites. An installer represents our company when they are working on a job site or in public and must present a positive reflection of Adcorp's commitment to provide a quality product and service.
Applicant must be fluent in reading floor plans and be able to use levels, drills, hammer drill, rotary hammer drills, measuring tools, ladders, caulk guns, grinders, saws and apply for a lift certificate. Most of Adcorp's work involves attaching room signs to the walls with double face tape and silicone adhesive or mechanical fasteners in drywall, cmu, brick, metal panels, etc. There will be some installations requiring interior or exterior lifts to stud mount metal or plastic letters to various types of walls. Exterior heights typically do not exceed 2 stories. A helper or temporary laborers will be provided, as needed.
On days when the applicant will not be required to do installations, they will be asked to help out in the shop, where they may learn new skills, shop cleaning and carpentry work.
Hours will be based on job site access. General office hours are 8 AM to 4:30 PM, including 30 unpaid minutes for lunch and state required break times. The applicant will most likely be required to arrive at Adcorp's shop earlier, when the job is on a construction site. Construction sites typically open at 6 and close between 2 and 3 PM, requiring the applicant to arrive at the shop between 5:30 AM and 6 AM to mobilize to the job sites. Overtime is not typically allowed, but our job sites can be located 1 to 1.5 hours away from the shop, which may accrue overtime. Adcorp tries to work at least 7.5 hours on the site, not including the time to drive to and from the site. The applicant may be asked to work half days on Friday or Monday, to curb overtime hours. It is important for the installer to be well rested when driving the van and operating lifts, tools, etc.
Estimated starting pay is $31/hr - $45/hr, depending on the applicant’s experience level and what skills they bring to the table. Most jobs will be subject to wage scale pay. Adcorp is looking for a lead sign installer with vast experience in attaching signs to various walls and substrates, that has the knowledge of wall types, attachments, specialized hardware and wind loads. We also would consider hiring an installer with experience installing electric signs and LED boards. We do provide LED boards on some of our jobs, but typically sub this work out to qualified terms.
Benefits include 401K and 2 weeks of paid vacation after 6 months of employment. A 3rd week of vacation shall be added after 2 years of employment and a 4th week after 4 years. 4 hour paid holidays. Adcorp shall agree to pay 50% of an employees privately purchased health insurance plan, and must provide administration a receipt showing their premiums. Adcorp does not offer in-house health insurance plans.
There will be no smoking on the premises or inside any of the buildings the applicant will be working in or any smoking inside our company van. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside our job sites and outside our shop.
