Lead Wildlife Technician

Description

We are a fast-growing, owner-operated wildlife removal company. We aren't looking for "workers"—we are looking for a Lead Wildlife Technician who is career minded and wants to help us build a department and grow into a leadership role.

If you are tired of being a "number" at a giant corporation and want to work directly with owners who actually know the trade, this is your opportunity. We are at a tipping point, and we need a professional who takes pride in craftsmanship, problem-solving, and protecting homeowners.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Wildlife Exclusion Specialist to join our team. This crucial role manages human-wildlife conflicts through a combination of exclusion/construction work and trapping/monitoring efforts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in construction, an understanding of wildlife behavior, and a commitment to humane and ethical wildlife management practices. This position focuses primarily on the construction and repair labor necessary for exclusion and the routine physical labor involved in trapping and removal. The ideal candidate must be proficient with tools, comfortable with demanding physical work, and committed to following technical instructions precisely. Position Overview

1. Wildlife Exclusion and Construction Labor

Executing Construction/Repair Work: Performing all physical labor required to implement exclusion plans provided by supervisors. This is the primary duty and involves working on all areas of a structure.
Sealing Entry Points: Installing and securing metal mesh, hardware cloth, chimney caps, vents, and other materials to permanently close access points identified by inspectors.
Structural Repairs: Performing general repair work, such as patching holes in fascia, soffits, and foundations, and reinforcing weak points to deter wildlife.
Working at Heights and Confined Spaces: Safely utilizing ladders and safety gear to perform work on roof lines, eaves, and chimneys, and maneuvering in attics and crawlspaces to complete exclusion tasks. (If you don't like ladders or crawlspaces, this job isn't for you.)
Material Management: Loading, unloading, and organizing construction materials and tools needed for the day's assigned jobs.
2. Trapping and Service Labor

Trap Service and Checking: Driving to assigned locations to physically check, bait, and reset live traps on a daily basis.
Animal Handling and Transport: Safely and humanely handling, loading, and transporting captured nuisance animals while strictly adhering to both company and regulatory standards.
Decontamination & Clean-up: Performing the physical labor of removing wildlife waste, soiled insulation, and applying sanitizing agents in areas where animals were present (attics, crawlspaces, exhaust vents, sheds, etc).
Record Keeping: Accurately completing daily labor reports, trap check logs, and material usage forms for all assigned jobs.
Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven, hands-on experience in construction, roofing, carpentry, or general home maintenance/repair. Prior experience in physically checking and servicing animal traps is beneficial.
Skills: Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools (drills, saws, caulk guns, etc.) safely and efficiently. Strong ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely.
Licensure: Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record. Must be insurable by the company. Must possess or be willing to obtain required state/local Wildlife Control Operator (WCO) licenses/permits.
Physical Requirements: This is a physically demanding labor role. Candidates must be able to:
Lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
Safely climb and work from tall ladders and roofs.
Work comfortably for extended periods in all weather conditions and challenging environments (e.g., dusty attics, wet crawlspaces).
