Description
Lostine is seeking a dexterous and detail-oriented production worker to join our small and dedicated team with a primary focus on leatherworking. This position will focus on crafting high-quality leather goods and components for our line of products, while also assisting in other parts of the production process as needed, including wood finishing, assembly, and furniture repair.
The ideal candidate has experience or a strong interest in working with leather and fabric — including hand stitching, cutting, and assembly — and is comfortable operating sewing and leatherworking machines. While training will be provided, some experience or familiarity working with leather is ideal. Applicants should be self-motivated, dependable, strive for quality in their work, and be able to adapt to evolving priorities.
Lostine has a high-mix production shop where every member plays a crucial role and cross-training is essential. This is a great fit for someone looking to build upon their existing skills while developing new ones to become an integral part of our team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cut, prepare, and assemble leather parts and products by hand and with machinery.
- Perform hand stitching, saddle stitching, edge finishing, and other leatherworking techniques to a high standard.
- Assist with the operation of the waterjet to produce precise leather and material components.
- Assemble products composed of leather, wood, and metal parts.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
- Assist in other areas of the production shop as needed, including finishing, assembly, and vintage furniture repair.
- Previous experience or strong interest in working with leather or fabric, including cutting, stitching, and assembly.
- Detail-oriented with an ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to balance detailed work with timely execution.
- Ability to focus on quality while working on repetitive tasks.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Good communicator comfortable working independently or within a team.
- Coachable in learning new methods and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment.
- Familiarity working with wood, brass, or other materials.
- Familiarity with wood finishing and using hand and woodworking tools.
- Familiarity with upholstery techniques.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Hours:
8am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday
