Journeyman Residential Service Electrician

Description

We're looking for a licensed journeyman electrician who can earn a homeowner's trust, diagnose electrical problems accurately, and complete clean, dependable repairs. Our goal is to hire a reliable professional for a long-term role.

The work is primarily residential service, troubleshooting, repairs, and improvements, with commercial electrical work as projects require. You should be comfortable handling a service call from the first conversation through testing, cleanup, and a clear explanation of the completed work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Listen to customers, ask useful questions, troubleshoot systematically, and explain the problem in plain language.
  • Diagnose and repair issues involving circuits, breakers, receptacles, GFCIs, switches, lighting, and other residential electrical systems.
  • Perform electrical installations and upgrades within your qualifications and the company's authorized scope.
  • Explain repair options and prepare accurate estimates using company pricing; obtain customer approval before starting additional work.
  • Identify relevant safety improvements and additional services that benefit the customer. Honest recommendations and customer choice are part of the job—no scare tactics or unnecessary work.
  • Perform commercial work such as branch circuits, devices, lighting, EMT conduit, and equipment connections; read plans and coordinate with other trades.
  • Follow applicable electrical codes, safe work practices, and company procedures. Know when to stop and ask for technical support.
  • Record findings, photos, materials, labor, and completed work in our service software; keep customers and the office informed.
  • Protect the customer's property, maintain an organized work area, test your work, and leave the site clean.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • A current, verifiable journeyman electrician license or certificate of competency. Include the credential type, issuing jurisdiction, and expiration date when applying.
  • Proven experience independently troubleshooting and completing residential service calls.
  • The ability to perform commercial electrical work, including EMT installation and reading electrical plans.
  • Professional, respectful communication and confidence discussing scope, pricing, and service options with homeowners.
  • Strong judgment, dependable attendance, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel between customer job sites.
  • Comfort using a smartphone or tablet for estimates, work orders, photos, and customer approvals. Housecall Pro experience is a plus.
  • Ability to perform the essential field duties safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes ownership of the customer experience, and wants to build a long-term working relationship.

TO APPLY

Reply with your resume or a brief work history, your journeyman credential details, your residential service and commercial experience, and your availability to start. Please include brief answers to these questions:
1. Describe a difficult residential electrical problem you diagnosed. How did you find and verify the cause?
2. How do you explain repair options and pricing to a homeowner who is concerned about cost?
3. Give an example of an additional service you recommended because it addressed a customer's actual need.

Please have professional references available for the interview. Do not send a Social Security number, driver's license photo, or other sensitive identity documents with your initial application.
