Lonohana Estate Chocolate is a tree-to-bar Hawaii chocolate maker, and we are looking for new full-time farming assistants for our cacao operations in Waialua.

We are looking for a professional, self-motivated team player. The ideal candidate will have the desire to work with cacao and regenerative agroforestry orchard development. Please note that some weekend day availability is a MUST for this position. This position will be a key role on our growing farm team, and there is absolutely room for growth and advancement as Lonohana’s ag programs develop.

This role will be based at our country headquarters in Waialua.

SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting with farm tasks on many fronts, included, but not limited to:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

FARM:

Fruit harvesting
Irrigation maintenance and repair
Weeding and site maintenance
Orchard pruning
Forestry canopy maintenance
Communicate with other team members about equipment and facility needs
Assist in post-harvest processing, including fermentation and drying
Operate machinery ranging from manual snips/pruners and handsaws to chainsaws, weed wackers, tractors and ATVs

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS

Self-starter that thrives on exceeding expectations

Orchard and/or cacao background and experience
Strong attention to detail
Friendly, courteous and approachable demeanor
Positive, adaptable, flexible attitude
Able to multi-task with ease and grace under pressure
Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully
Good time management

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Previous experience in cacao, other tropical orchard spaces, or farm work is ideal, but not required.
Must be available to work a varied and flexible schedule INCLUDING weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis
Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time.
Handle inclement weather conditions.
