LTL Dispatcher needed ASAP

Superior Skilled Trades is seeking an experienced LTL Dispatcher for Immediate hire in Houston, TX

PAY: $19-$21/hr. (based upon experience)

HOURS: Expected shifts will be 8 hours starting at 7:00 am
SCHEDULE: Expected work will be 5 days; approximately 40 hours a week
START DATE: asap
DURATION: This is anticipated to be a temporary-to-permanent position

Dispatcher Job Description:

Superior Skilled Trades is seeking a reliable and organized Dispatcher to coordinate drivers, work crews, vehicles, equipment, and shipments according to schedules and customer requests. The Dispatcher will be responsible for maintaining efficient delivery routes, communicating with drivers and supervisors, monitoring schedules, and helping ensure shipments and services are completed safely and on time.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities at once, communicating by phone, email, and radio, and remaining calm while resolving scheduling or service issues.

Responsibilities:

Schedule and dispatch drivers, work crews, vehicles, and equipment to appropriate locations
Calculate delivery routes and estimated travel times and make adjustments as needed
Establish cost-effective delivery routes while maintaining customer service and compliance with Federal DOT guidelines
Ensure the safe and timely pickup and delivery of shipments
Communicate work orders, schedules, updates, and other information to drivers, crews, and supervisors
Use telephone, two-way radio, Outlook email, and other communication systems to coordinate daily activities
Communicate with customers and supervisors to resolve scheduling, service, equipment, or delivery issues
Prepare daily schedules and work orders
Receive completed work orders and information from drivers and work crews
Maintain accurate records of work requests, customer requests, completed work, charges, expenses, inventory, and other operational information
Monitor multiple jobs, deliveries, and requests simultaneously
Help coordinate communications within assigned company territories
Make necessary schedule and route adjustments throughout the day
Maintain organized and accurate dispatch documentation

Qualifications for Dispatcher:

1+ year of experience working with LTL freight carriers
Previous dispatching, logistics, transportation, warehouse, or scheduling experience preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong clerical and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and logistics/dispatch software
Strong computer skills and ability to learn scheduling and dispatch systems
Ability to multitask and manage multiple events and priorities at the same time
Ability to work effectively under pressure and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to communicate information clearly and accurately to drivers, crews, supervisors, and customers
Excellent attention to detail and ability to keep track of schedules, routes, personnel, shipments, and equipment
Ability to initiate frequent phone communication and maintain a high level of customer and employee contact
Familiarity with operating a forklift is a plus

Physical Requirements:

Position works primarily in a warehouse environment

Must be comfortable with frequent telephone activity and initiating conversations
Position requires the use of PPE including: steel-toe work boots, hard hat, gloves, high-visibility vest, and protective eyeglasses.

Additional Requirements for Dispatcher:

Must be eligible to work in the United States

Must have reliable transportation to the job site
Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
