Shearwater Property Management, a growing locally owned company based in Portland, Maine, is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team. We manage a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties throughout Southern Maine.
This hands-on role offers variety, independence, and the opportunity to build a long-term career within our company.
Responsibilities
- Complete maintenance work orders for residential and commercial properties.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, appliances, and general maintenance issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance and apartment turnovers, including repairs and painting.
- Maintain common areas, mechanical spaces, and grounds.
- Document work orders using property management software.
- Communicate professionally with residents, vendors, and team members.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment.
- Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule for emergency maintenance.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of property or facilities maintenance experience prefrerred.
- Working basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills, including email and mobile work order systems.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and participate in an on-call rotation (additional compensation provided).
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physical work.
- Must pass a pre-employment background screening.
- Greater Portland area candidates preferred.
