Manual Machinst

American Shoe Machinery, located in Beverly, Massachusetts, is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team temporarily while one of our machinists is on medical leave.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating manual machine tools and producing precision components from engineering drawings, blueprints, sample parts, or verbal instructions while maintaining close tolerances and high-quality standards. Retired and semi-retired machinists are encouraged to apply. We are happy to work with the right candidate to develop a flexible schedule.

• Set up and operate manual machine tools, including:
• Bridgeport milling machines
• Engine lathes
• Surface grinders
• Welders
• Drill presses and other standard machine shop equipment
• Operate CNC equipment as needed.
• Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, sample parts, or verbal instructions.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Select appropriate materials, tooling, fixtures, cutting tools, and machine settings.
• Measure workpieces using precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Machine parts to close tolerances while maintaining high quality standards.
• Plan the sequence of machining operations to maximize efficiency.
• Perform welding, grinding, fitting, and finishing operations as required.
