Marine Carpenter Wanted!

We design and fabricate yacht interiors and are looking for woodworkers, furniture/cabinet builders with experience in higher end projects. You must have some joinery skills and be familiar with woodworking machinery and tools. While our main focus is woodworking, all boat building, restoration, and retro-fitting includes many other medium including acrylics, fiberglass, metals, synthetic and natural stone, epoxy and finishes, and specialty products including custom hardware. We don't use products and materials you can buy at a big box store.

If you have only done production residential or commercial work, this position is probably not for you. If you assemble your work with pocket screws instead of joinery this position is definitely not for you. If you have some woodworking skills and know your way around a band saw, spindle sander, shaper, know what a furniture scraper is, can work to 1/128" max tolerances, know how to work with very expensive materials, know how to use a countersink and plugs, can deal with compound curves and unusual shapes and are still willing to learn a whole lot, you may be a good candidate. Marine and yacht carpentry is not something most people can grasp let alone master quickly. There is a learning curve no matter how skilled you are at woodworking.

We work on yachts so you must have a clean appearance, a good attitude, and excellent customer service and communication skills.

Pay is based on your marine carpentry experience which most fine woodworkers don't have, but if you can adapt to the environment and have a broad scope of skills it will be recognized quickly and equally compensated.
