Horizon Homes is Maine's whole home-performance contractor — insulation, air sealing, cold-climate heat pumps, and high-efficiency boilers, all under one roof. We run about 700 energy assessments a year, which means our techs walk into homes where we already know what the building is doing. We're hiring a Master-licensed technician who can install heat pumps.

Why this job is different

Most HVAC shops sell a bigger system when the house is the problem. We don't. We tighten and insulate the envelope first, then right-size the equipment — so the systems you install actually perform the way the manual says they will. You'll spend less time chasing comfort complaints that were never an equipment problem to begin with.

We're a ~20-person, owner-led company in Westbrook. No call center, no corporate script, no commission pressure to oversell a homeowner. You'll know everyone you work with by name.

This is a senior seat. At the Master level you're not just running your own calls — you're the license that lets our crews grow, and you'll have a real say in how the division runs.

What you'll do

Install (about half the job)

Install cold-climate ductless mini-splits and ducted heat pump systems — line sets, condensate, electrical coordination, mounts, and a clean finish the homeowner is happy to look at
Pull vacuums, weigh in charge, pressure-test, and commission systems to manufacturer spec
Install high-efficiency heat pump water heaters
Work alongside our insulation and air sealing crews on whole-house projects

As the Master on staff

Supervise and sign off on journeyman and apprentice work

Mentor the techs coming up behind you — we promote from the inside

Every day

Document the job in CompanyCam and keep your paperwork straight
Work safely and keep your crew safe: PPE, ladders, confined spaces, combustion, electrical
What you need

EPA Section 608 certification
5+ years of residential HVAC experience, including hands-on mini-split or ducted heat pump installation
Valid Maine driver's license and a clean driving record
Comfortable working in basements, attics, and crawlspaces, and on ladders
Able to explain a diagnosis to a homeowner in plain English, and be trusted in their home

Nice to have

Both oil and gas/propane licenses

Heat pump manufacturer training (Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Daikin)
Experience with combustion analysis and blower-door/building-science work
NATE certification
Prior experience in a home-performance or weatherization company
What we offer

$36–$52/hour, based on license and experience
Overtime at time-and-a-half over 40 hours
Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM. No nights, no weekends
No on-call rotation. We don't run one. Your nights and weekends are your own
