Mechanic Apprentice - $20/hr, $60K-70K/yr, Learn a Trade (Cinnaminson)

$20/hr base | $60K-70K per year | Full-time | Cinnaminson, NJ

Like working on cars, engines, or equipment in your spare time? Learn a real trade on the job under our senior mechanics. With prevailing-wage jobs ($50+/hr) and overtime, helpers typically earn $60K-70K a year.

What you'll do:

• Help install and service pumps and water/wastewater equipment
• General field labor, including cleaning tanks and equipment (some confined spaces)
• On slower field days: shop upkeep, forklift, pressure washing, painting, abrasive blasting, vehicle maintenance

Who we're looking for:

• Mechanical experience required. It can come from work or hobbies: auto repair, small engines, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or equipment
• Willing to get a CDL
• Reliable: shows up every day, learns fast, stays off the phone
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Able to pass a drug test, background check, and DMV abstract check
• Comfortable with heights, dirty work, and unpleasant smells
• Available for occasional emergency service calls

Physical requirements (this is demanding, hands-on work):

• Regularly lift and carry 50-75 lbs
• Work in confined spaces, wet vaults, and pump stations, including climbing ladders
• Comfortable with sewage, dirty work, and unpleasant smells
• Bend, kneel, crawl, and stand for long periods
• Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and snow, with long days when emergencies come up
• Wear required safety gear (respirator, harness, PPE)
• Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (DOT physical for CDL drivers)
• MMC may require employees to be clean-shaven at any time for respirator fit and safety (religious and medical accommodations considered)
• Company vehicles are tracked with Samsara GPS and dash cameras
