Mechanic / Rebuild Technician Who Can Paint

Small local manufacturing company in the 10 Mile and Hoover area of Warren, MI is hiring a hands-on mechanic / rebuild technician.

The main work is mechanical. Painting is part of the job when equipment is ready for it, but this is not a 40-hour-per-week painting position.

What you would work on:

• Disassemble, clean, inspect, and rebuild industrial equipment
• Help assemble skid-mounted equipment packages
• Prep, prime, and paint machines and skid packages as needed
• Work with bearings, seals, fasteners, motors, pumps, guards, piping, and basic shop hardware
• Keep the work organized and pay attention to fit, finish, and details

Good background for this role:

• Industrial mechanic, machine rebuild, millwright, maintenance, auto/heavy equipment, or similar hands-on experience
• Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, measuring, drilling, tapping, grinding, and basic shop work
• Painting or paint prep experience is a plus
• Welding or fabrication experience is a plus, but not required for this role

Important requirements:

• Reliable transportation is essential
• Punctuality matters. Occasional real-life exceptions are understood, but repeated lateness or attendance problems will not work here
• Work references are required
• Criminal background check may be required
• Drug testing may be required
• Personal cell phone use during work time is not allowed except for true emergencies or approved breaks. Repeated or serious violations can result in immediate dismissal

Work environment:
This is a small, steady, low-drama shop. The work environment is practical, respectful, and generally low-stress for people who show up on time and stay productive.

We are looking for someone who wants real full-time work. This is not a good fit for someone who wants to stand around, disappear during the day, or needs constant pushing.

Pay:

Starting pay is $20-$28/hr depending on experience and skill level. Raises above that are possible after proven job performance.
