mechanic / shop wanted — assembly + ongoing service partner for new Mi
Motorcycle Mechanic — Assembly & Service Partner
Description
Starting a small electric motorcycle brand in Minneapolis (CopperVolt) and looking for a mechanic or shop to be both my assembly partner and my ongoing service contact.
WHAT I'M BUILDING:
Five bikes landing this summer, with 15-25 more coming over the next 12-18 months across two models. Sold to local Twin Cities riders, backed by a real warranty. I need a service infrastructure to back that warranty — that's where you come in.
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU:
Assembly: Onsite final build-out at my Richfield storage unit. 2-3 hours per bike. Bikes can't be transported elsewhere, so mobile capability is required for this part.
Service (ongoing): Warranty work and paid customer service at your shop. My supplier ships replacement parts free by air; you handle diagnostic, swap, and labor. For warranty events I pay a flat per-event labor fee we agree on upfront. Out-of-warranty work is paid by the customer at your normal rate.
YOU SHOULD HAVE:
Motorcycle tooling and shop setup
Mobile capability for the assembly portion
Comfort with high-voltage battery systems (or willingness to learn)
Insurance setup that covers off-site assembly and in-shop service
Located in the Twin Cities metro
WHAT I'M NOT ASKING:
For you to take on brand liability
To carry warranty obligations directly to customers
To stock our parts (we ship what's needed)
For exclusivity
THE BIKES:
60V/72V Chinese-sourced electric choppers (CityCoco platform) and a Diavel-styled naked bike coming later in 2026. Hub motors, lithium batteries, hydraulic discs. Familiar territory if you've worked on scooters, e-bikes, or imports.
PAY:
Assembly: hourly mobile rate or flat per-bike
Warranty service: flat per-event labor fee (typical $150-250 covering labor only; parts are free from supplier)
Out-of-warranty service: your normal hourly rate, paid by customer
REPLY WITH:
Your shop name and location (or "mobile only")
Hourly rate (mobile + shop)
What you currently work on
Earliest availability for the assembly batch (mid-late June)
Happy to meet at the storage unit with the prototype before either side commits. Looking for a long-term working relationship, not a one-shot gig.
