Mechanic/Welder Field Technician

Established Long Island City company, in business since 1960 is looking for a Mechanic/Welder to join our service department.
We install, service and repair commercial loading dock equipment throughout New York City and Long Island, including loading dock levelers, hydraulic scissors lifts, dock seals and related equipment.

Job Duties:

Troubleshoot, repair and install mechanical and hydraulic equipment
Welding and general steel fabrication
Basic electrical troubleshooting
Work in our shop and customer locations
Drive company trucks and service vehicles
Maintain tools, equipment, workbench and trucks in a clean, organized condition
Work from ladders up to 12-15 feet when required.

Requirements:

Welding experience
General mechanical ability
Knowledge of hand and power tools
Valid driver's license
Able to work independently and solve mechanical problems
Must be able to speak and write English and communicate well with customers and coworkers
Able to perform physical work

This is primarily a field service position, although some shop fabrication and repair work is involved.
Must be reliable and punctual
