Miscellaneous Metals Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager – Stairs and Railings
Full-Time | Experienced Project Manager
We are an established miscellaneous metals fabrication company with over 40 years of experience specializing in metal stairs, railings, small structural steel, and related miscellaneous metals work. Our projects typically include new schools, universities, police/fire stations, housing authorities, apartments, etc.
We are seeking an experienced project manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of project management experience, preferably in miscellaneous metals, architectural metals, structural steel, or a related fabrication/construction field.
Responsibilities
1. Manage miscellaneous metals projects from contract award through fabrication, delivery, and completion.
2. Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, contracts, and project requirements.
3. Coordinate with general contractors, architects, engineers, detailers, fabricators, and field personnel.
4. Manage project schedules, budgets, material procurement, and production requirements.
5. Coordinate shop drawings, submittals, approvals, and revisions.
6. Track project changes, RFIs, change orders, and additional work.
7. Monitor project costs and profitability throughout the project.
8. Communicate regularly with customers and internal staff to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
9. Coordinate deliveries and field installation activities when applicable.
10. Identify potential problems early and work with the team to develop solutions.
11. Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
Qualifications
1. Minimum 2 years of project management experience preferred.
2. Experience with miscellaneous metals, metal stairs, railings, structural steel, or fabrication strongly preferred.
3. Experience working with general contractors and public-sector construction projects is a plus.
4. Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications.
5. Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and project coordination.
6. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
9. Ability to work independently while also coordinating effectively with shop and field personnel.
