NOW HIRING: COMMERCIAL HVAC FOREMAN / LEAD INSTALLER

Location: Charleston, SC & surrounding areas

Pay: $35–$40 per hour, based on experience
Position: Full-time

Hard Start Mechanical is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Foreman / Lead Installer to lead crews and perform installations on commercial and government projects.

This is a working foreman position. You will be responsible for performing hands-on installation work daily while leading the crew, assigning tasks, and checking workmanship. This is not a supervision-only role.

Responsibilities:

Work alongside the crew installing HVAC equipment, ductwork, refrigerant piping, condensate drains, and related components.
Lead commercial installations and replacements from layout through completion.
Read mechanical drawings, specifications, and manufacturer installation instructions.
Plan daily work, assign tasks, and keep helpers productive.
Train less-experienced employees and inspect their work throughout installation.
Identify material, tool, and equipment needs ahead of time.
Perform pressure testing, evacuation, startup, and installation troubleshooting within your qualifications.
Coordinate with other trades, customers, general contractors, and company management.
Maintain safe work practices, quality workmanship, and an organized jobsite.
Track crew hours and job progress, communicate field issues, and complete punch-list items.

Qualifications:

Strong commercial HVAC installation experience.
Proven ability to lead a crew while actively performing installation work.
Ability to run jobs independently and solve field installation problems.
Experience installing commercial HVAC equipment, ductwork, and refrigerant piping.
Ability and patience to train helpers and develop their skills.
EPA Section 608 certification appropriate for assigned refrigerant work.
Valid driver’s license, dependable attendance, and strong communication.
Mechanical piping, welding, and plumbing experience are a plus.
