Skye Heating & Air Conditioning LLC is looking for a dependable and motivated individual to join our team in an entry-level HVAC & Skilled Trades Assistant position serving the Milwaukee area.
This position is designed for someone who is willing to work, learn, gain hands-on experience, and grow within the skilled trades.
Previous HVAC experience is not required. However, applicants with prior experience in HVAC, plumbing, construction, electrical, carpentry, property maintenance, mechanical work, or another skilled trade are strongly encouraged to apply and may have the opportunity to advance more quickly.
The position will initially start part-time with flexible hours based on company needs, with the potential to transition into a full-time position for the right individual.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a hands-on assistant position supporting technicians with HVAC installations, service work, maintenance, and other skilled-trade and property-related projects.
While this is an entry-level position, we are also open to applicants who already have some trade experience and are looking for an opportunity to expand their skills and take on greater responsibility.
SCHEDULE
Hours will initially be part-time and flexible based on company workload and scheduling needs.
Applicants must be available to work at different times throughout the day when scheduled. This position may not initially provide the same set hours every day.
As the individual demonstrates their skills, reliability, work quality, and ability to perform tasks independently, there may be an opportunity for additional hours and full-time employment.
PAY & PROBATIONARY PERIOD
All new hires will begin with a probationary period and will be paid daily during the probationary period.
The probationary period may range from a few weeks up to approximately 3 months, depending on the individual's:
- Previous trade experience
- Demonstrated skill level
- Reliability and attendance
- Quality of work
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to learn
- Ability to complete assigned tasks independently
- Overall job performance
Individuals who demonstrate the necessary skills, professionalism, dependability, and work ethic may have the opportunity for full-time employment, increased responsibilities, and increased compensation.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Work may include:
- Assisting with furnace and air-conditioning installations and replacements
- Assisting with mini-split installations
- Assisting HVAC technicians during service and maintenance calls
- Carrying, loading, and organizing equipment, tools, and materials
- Removing and disposing of old equipment
- Assisting with basic ductwork and installation-related tasks
- Running and organizing materials as directed
- Assisting with general maintenance, plumbing, construction, and property-related projects
- Keeping job sites clean and organized
- Following company and job-site safety procedures
- Learning proper use of tools, materials, and equipment
- Performing other assistant duties as needed
Applicants must:
- Have their own reliable vehicle and transportation
- Have their own basic hand tools
- Be dependable and arrive when scheduled
- Have flexibility to work different hours throughout the day based on company needs
- Be willing to learn and take direction
- Be physically capable of lifting and moving equipment and materials
- Be comfortable working in basements, attics, mechanical areas, outdoors, and other typical job-site environments
- Be able to work as part of a team
- Maintain professional behavior around customers, tenants, property managers, and other contractors
- Have a positive attitude and willingness to develop new skills
This is an entry-level position, so previous HVAC experience is not required.

Applicants who already have trade experience may be given the opportunity to take on more advanced responsibilities depending on their demonstrated abilities.
