$35–$45 per hour | Full-Time | Chicago North Shore & Northern Suburbs

CBC Construction is seeking a highly skilled, experienced Master Carpenter / Working Crew Leader for residential remodeling and construction projects.

We are looking for a versatile craftsman with extensive hands-on experience in finish carpentry, kitchen cabinet installation, composite decking, and railing systems, who can independently lead a crew while maintaining exceptional workmanship and productivity.

This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must demonstrate advanced carpentry skills, leadership ability, and a strong understanding of residential construction.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Finish Carpentry & Kitchen Installation

Expert-level installation of baseboards, crown molding, door casing, interior doors, and custom trim.

Professional kitchen cabinet installation, including layout, leveling, fillers, panels, moldings, and finishing details.

Experience with custom millwork, shelving, built-ins, and detailed woodworking.

Ability to perform precise measurements, cuts, scribing, and detailed finishing.

Deck Construction & Exterior Carpentry

Extensive experience with deck framing, beams, joists, stairs, and structural connections.

Advanced experience installing composite decking, including TimberTech, AZEK, and Trex.

Proven experience installing composite, aluminum, and glass railing systems.

Knowledge of proper fastening, flashing, spacing, and manufacturer installation requirements.

Ability to execute complex deck layouts and detailed exterior finishing.

Crew Leadership & Project Management

Proven ability to supervise and work alongside a crew of carpenters and laborers.

Independently plan daily work, assign responsibilities, and maintain productivity.

Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and installation instructions.

Coordinate materials, tools, and manpower efficiently.

Maintain high standards of workmanship, jobsite safety, and cleanliness.

Resolve field challenges and communicate professionally with management and homeowners.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS – BIG PLUS

Professional tile installation experience is a significant advantage, particularly:

Bathroom and shower wall tile installation.

Floor tile installation, including porcelain and ceramic.

Shower waterproofing systems and proper substrate preparation.

Tile layout, cutting, leveling, and finishing.

Experience with Schluter systems and large-format tile.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years of professional carpentry experience preferred.

Strong, verifiable finish carpentry and kitchen cabinet installation experience.

Extensive composite decking and railing installation experience.

Demonstrated ability to lead a construction crew.

Must own professional carpentry tools.

Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong attention to detail, accountability, and professional work ethic.

COMPENSATION & OPPORTUNITY

Pay: $35–$45 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skills.
