Operations and Community Manager

Description

We're an award-winning craft cocktail bar and America's only boozy escape room in the heart of SF's Mission District. We host the weirdest, most wonderful events in the city, and want to host many more. We want help ensuring these events happen and that the person pulling these events off genuinely enjoys what they do.

WHO YOU ARE

You're exceptionally helpful. You're the type of person who notices details (ex: paper towels are running low, there's a random fork on the ground) and does their part to help. You like knowing where everything belongs and keeping organized. You get satisfaction from leaving things running better than when you found them. At the same time, you're outgoing. You like talking to people, hosting events, remembering names, and making new guests feel like they should return. You're the kind of person to say, "I'll figure it out," more often than, "That's someone else's job," (because it'll usually be your job). You value being part of a tight-knit team that cares for one another.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

***Inventory and Daily Operations***
You'll come in early to receive, organize, and put away deliveries for the bar, kitchen, and escape room, making sure everything is accounted for and in its place before the doors open. You're the first person bar and kitchen staff come to when they need something, and you'll stay ahead of shortages before they become a problem. You'll learn and own our ice program from top to bottom. When things get busy up front, you'll roll up your sleeves and cover wherever you're needed, whether that's dishes, restocking, or jumping into the escape rooms as a game-master. This is a very physical and detail-oriented work. You genuinely have to enjoy keeping things clean, organized, or you will not last.

***Fix Problems and Make Stuff Happen***
You are Lore's onsite handy-person and in-house technologist. The owner wants to host a spontaneous rave? You're already thinking of ways to make the audio and visuals happen. When something breaks or stops working, you're the first one on it. You troubleshoot before you escalate, and you document what you tried and what worked. For anything beyond your skill set, you'll know who to reach out to for help. You'll maintain relationships with our vendors and contractors, following up until the problem is fully resolved.

***Build Community and Make Friends Along the Way***
The heart of the role, you'll be the host and tournament director for game nights, point of contact for our private events, and whatever weird and wonderful programming Lore decides to host next. You run the show from setup to teardown, you welcome every guest like they belong here, you keep the energy alive, and you make sure there are plenty of photos and videos for social media. You'll actively think about how to bring new people into our community, whether that's reaching out to local or online groups or striking up partnerships with brands. You'll have a hand in social media, helping capture and share what makes Lore special so more people find their way to us.

***Keeping the Ship Running and the Owner Informed***
You'll be the person the owner can count on. You GET your role and can manage your projects and yourself well. You treat problems like puzzles to solve rather than something to escalate immediately. You keep the the owner informed of problems, solutions, and ideas that may come to mind.
