JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Paint Superintendent

Department: Field

Reports to: Project Managers, Superintendents, Controller

The Paint Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the paint crew including ordering all materials and maintaining an inventory of supplies necessary to complete a variety of projects.

REQUIREMENTS

To be an effective Paint Superintendent, you must:

Be authorized to work in the USA

Maintain a valid driver’s license

Have/Maintain a reliable vehicle with current insurance and registration

Be able to safely work on a jobsite with rough terrain and tall steps

Work well on a team

Be respectful to others

Be able to read/understand plans

Have excellent organizational skills

Be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week most weeks in the year

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

You’ll be ahead of the game if you have:

Familiarity with Procore

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Paint Superintendent, you will:

Interview potential new hires

Review, verify, and approve timesheets and absent request forms

Monitor employees’ hours of work (breaks, lunches, etc.) to assure they are following company policies

Perform regular inspections of the crew’s work to ensure quality and timeliness

Distribute documents, access passes, etc. to crew members

Enter the crew members’ schedules using the When I Work app

Maintain a paint schedule based on the project schedules at various projects and when the work will be completed

Address safety violations promptly

Communicate and enforce safety procedures and company policies

Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with project Superintendents on the schedules

Provide training to crew members on new or different techniques to improve quality, timeliness, and/or cost-effectiveness

Order materials and supplies needed for the crew to complete the work and coordinate pick up or delivery of these items

Maintain an inventory of commonly used sundries in shop and paint van.

Minimize drive times to maintain crew productivity

Assure that all materials needed to perform the work are on-site prior to the scheduled date that the work is to commence

Collect and submit all receipts, invoices, packing slips, timesheets, employee forms, etc. to the office

Develop checklists and management tools to help organize, coordinate, and improve the crew

Ensure company property (tools, vehicles, etc.) used by the crew are properly stored and maintained

Estimate costs for an upcoming project by reviewing the scope of work and predicting the number of man-hours and what materials the project requires

The Paint Superintendent will also paint, stain, sand wood and other finishes with their crew
