Part-Time Commercial Cabinetry Inspector (1099 Contractor)

Boyd Industries is a leading manufacturer of premium dental and medical cabinetry and operatory equipment. We are seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Cabinetry Inspector to help ensure our custom-built cabinets meet the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction. This is an ideal opportunity for a retired cabinet builder, cabinet shop supervisor, or woodworking professional who would like flexible part-time work while leveraging years of industry experience.

Position Overview

The Commercial Cabinetry Inspector will perform final and in-process inspections of custom commercial cabinetry manufactured at our Clearwater facility. The position is responsible for verifying that cabinets meet engineering specifications, dimensional requirements, material standards, and Boyd's finish quality requirements before shipment to customers.

This is a 1099 independent contractor position paying $25.00 per hour.

Schedule

Flexible schedule during normal business hours
Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM
Weekly hours will vary based on production schedules
Inspection schedules will be communicated and agreed upon in advance

Responsibilities

Inspect custom-built commercial cabinetry for dimensional accuracy and adherence to drawings and specifications.
Verify cabinet construction methods, materials, hardware, and components meet company requirements.
Evaluate cabinet finishes for consistency, quality, appearance, and workmanship.
Identify defects, non-conformances, or workmanship issues requiring correction.
Record inspection findings and communicate issues to production management.
Verify corrective actions have been completed prior to approval.
Ensure finished products meet Boyd Industries' quality standards before shipment.
Work closely with production supervisors and cabinet builders to maintain quality expectations.

Qualifications

Previous experience in cabinet manufacturing, cabinet installation, woodworking, millwork, or furniture construction.
Ability to accurately read blueprints and verify dimensions.
Strong understanding of cabinet construction techniques and materials.
Ability to identify finish defects, construction defects, and quality concerns.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship standards.
Reliable transportation and ability to work on-site in Clearwater.

Preferred

Retired cabinet builder, cabinet shop supervisor, lead carpenter, millwork craftsman, or cabinet quality inspector.
Experience with commercial or institutional cabinetry.
Familiarity with quality inspection and acceptance processes.
Resident of the Largo, Pinellas Park, or surrounding Pinellas County area.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk throughout the manufacturing facility.
Ability to bend, reach, and visually inspect cabinetry from multiple angles.
Ability to occasionally lift or move components weighing up to 25 pounds.
