PART-TIME GARMENT SEAMSTRESS / SAMPLE SEWER WANTED

Voyage by V is seeking a skilled local seamstress or garment sewer to assist with the construction of custom dresses, formalwear, corsets, accessories, and pieces for an upcoming fashion collection.

This is paid, project-based work with the possibility of becoming an ongoing part-time position as the brand continues to grow.

The ideal person is comfortable receiving a completed pattern, fabric, lining, notions, supplies, and construction instructions, and then sewing the garment or assigned portions of the garment.

Responsibilities may include:

• Constructing dresses from completed patterns
• Sewing garment linings
• Assembling skirts, bodices, sleeves, and other garment components
• Installing zippers, closures, boning channels, or finishing details
• Creating small accessories such as handkerchiefs, bows, ties, or similar pieces
• Completing clean seams, hems, pressing, and professional garment finishing
• Assisting with corset or formalwear construction based on experience
• Communicating clearly about questions, timelines, and construction concerns

•Taking dresses apart to be remade

Voyage by V will provide the patterns, fabric, materials, supplies, and design direction. The designer will continue to handle the overall design, pattern development, client communication, fittings, and more specialized structural work unless otherwise discussed.

Qualifications:

• Experience sewing clothing or formal garments
• Ability to follow a commercial, printed, or designer-provided pattern
• Strong attention to detail
• Clean and accurate sewing and finishing skills
• Experience with delicate, formalwear, bridal, or corsetry fabrics is a plus
• Must be dependable and able to meet agreed-upon deadlines
• Must be located within reasonable driving distance of Wolcott, Connecticut

Compensation:

This is paid work. Compensation may be hourly or determined per project based on the garment, experience level, and scope of work. A paid sample project or sewing test may be requested before larger projects are assigned.

Schedule:

Flexible, part-time, and project-based. Work may be completed independently, with scheduled garment and material drop-offs and pickups.
