Part-Time Pest Control RCA

Location: Austin, Texas (regular local presence required)

Position summary

We are launching a residential pest-control company serving the Austin area. We are seeking an experienced Texas Certified Commercial Applicator to serve as our designated Responsible Certified Applicator for one Texas business location.

This is a hands-on compliance, training, and supervisory role. The RCA will help establish our operating procedures, supervise licensed and registered personnel, and ensure that our services comply with Texas Department of Agriculture requirements and pesticide labels.

The initial service category will be general Pest Control. Termite or Lawn and Ornamental licensing is helpful but not required unless those services are added.

Responsibilities

• Serve as our designated Responsible Certified Applicator.
• Associate and maintain an active Texas Certified Commercial Applicator license with our business license.
• Maintain certification in the Pest Control category and complete all required continuing education.
• Provide required supervision and training for technicians and apprentices.
• Be available during normal operating hours for treatment, safety, label, and compliance questions.
• Provide the required in-person instruction and supervision based on each employee’s registration or license status.
• Develop and approve treatment protocols, approved-product lists, application methods, dilution standards, PPE requirements, and service documentation.
• Review pesticide labels before products are approved for company use.
• Oversee pesticide purchasing, storage, transportation, mixing, application, spill response, and disposal practices.
• Maintain or oversee employee training records, Verifiable Training Records, pesticide-use records, customer documents, and other TDA-required records.
• Conduct periodic ride-alongs, field observations, vehicle inspections, chemical-storage inspections, and service-record audits.
• Verify that technicians and apprentices work only within properly licensed categories and supervision limits.
• Review and assist with unusual infestations, treatment failures, customer exposure concerns, spills, misapplications, or label-compliance questions.
• Help prepare for TDA inspections, self-audits, license renewals, and regulatory inquiries.
• Promptly inform management of any condition that could place the company, its employees, customers, or licenses at risk.

Required qualifications

• Active Texas Structural Pest Control Certified Commercial Applicator license in good standing.
• Legally eligible to serve as the RCA for our business location.
• Not currently designated as the RCA for another business licensee or business location.
• Working knowledge of Texas structural pest-control laws, TDA rules, pesticide labels, application records, employee supervision, chemical storage, PPE, and incident response.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience serving as an RCA, branch manager, service manager, trainer, or compliance manager.
• Residential recurring pest-control experience.
• Experience launching or auditing a Texas structural pest-control business.
• Additional certification in Termite Control or Lawn and Ornamental.
• Experience training apprentices and preparing them for the technician examination.
• Strong recordkeeping, documentation, and field-quality-control skills.

Schedule and supervision expectations

This is a flexible part-time role, but the schedule must satisfy all applicable TDA supervision requirements.

When we employs apprentices, the RCA or another properly designated certified applicator must provide the required in-person contact and instruction. Technicians must also receive the required recurring in-person supervision. The amount of time required will increase as we adds employees, routes, service categories, or locations.

The RCA must remain reasonably available during business operating hours for questions and instructions involving pesticide use, treatment decisions, employee safety, and regulatory compliance.
