Piano Artisans is a premium heirloom piano restoration atelier in Orange, CA, and we're looking for a full-time apprentice to train under our player piano specialist.

This is hands-on work — pneumatic systems, valves, bellows, tracker bars, and the mechanical guts that make a player piano play itself. No prior piano experience required, but you should be comfortable working with your hands and have some background in mechanical, craft, or technical work (auto, woodworking, electronics, instrument repair, HVAC, etc. all count). This work is detailed and repetitive by nature — you'll be doing precise, methodical tasks over and over, so patience and a tolerance for tedious, careful work matter more than raw speed.

What you'll be doing:

Learning to diagnose and rebuild player piano mechanisms alongside an experienced technician
Disassembling, cleaning, and releathering pneumatic components
Testing and troubleshooting mechanical systems
Working carefully with antique and heirloom instruments

What we're looking for:

Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

Comfort with tedious, repetitive, precision work
Reliable, full-time availability
Willingness to learn a specialized trade from the ground up

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $45,000 to $65,000 per year

Total compensation package: $55,000 to $75,000 per year
