About the Position

Minuteman Press Berkeley is looking for a hands-on, dependable, and motivated Prepress & Digital Print / Bindery Operator to join our team.
This is an all-around production role for someone who knows the printing business and is comfortable jumping in wherever needed. The ideal candidate has actual experience operating digital printing equipment, performing prepress/preflight, finishing and bindery work, and handling customer job deliveries and pickups.
We are looking for a go-getter and team player who takes initiative, pays attention to detail, works efficiently, and doesn't wait to be told what needs to be done.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and wants to be an important part of a small, fast-paced print shop.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepress & Digital Printing

Prepare customer files for production and perform preflight/prepress checks.
Review files for size, bleeds, margins, resolution, color, fonts, and other production requirements.
Make necessary file adjustments to ensure jobs are production-ready.
Operate digital printing equipment and produce high-quality printed materials.
Set up print jobs according to customer specifications and work orders.
Inspect printed materials for quality, accuracy, color, registration, and finishing requirements.
Troubleshoot basic printing and production issues.
Maintain organized production files and follow established production procedures.
Bindery & Finishing
Perform hands-on bindery and finishing work, including:
Cutting and trimming
Folding
Creasing
Collating
Stapling
Booklet making
Laminating
Drilling
Padding
Packaging
Other finishing and post-press tasks
Operate and maintain basic bindery and finishing equipment.
Carefully inspect completed work before packaging and delivery.

Shop Support & Delivery

Pick up and deliver customer jobs using the company van.
Load, transport, and safely handle printed materials and supplies.
Assist with receiving materials and organizing inventory.
Keep the production area clean, organized, and safe.
Assist coworkers with production tasks as needed.
Help keep jobs moving through the shop and meet customer deadlines.

What We're Looking For

Required:
Previous hands-on experience in a commercial print shop, digital printing, or print production environment.
Demonstrated experience actually operating digital printing equipment.
Hands-on bindery and finishing experience.
Experience with prepress/preflight and preparing files for print.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
Valid California driver's license with a safe driving record.
Comfortable driving a company van for customer pickups and deliveries.
Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
Able to multitask and prioritize multiple jobs and deadlines.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
Willingness to jump in and help wherever needed.

Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on print production experience preferred.
Digital printing experience required.
Bindery/finishing experience required.
Prepress/preflight experience required.
Experience with Adobe Acrobat and/or Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.
Experience with RIP software and digital production equipment is a plus.
Experience in a Minuteman Press or similar quick-turn commercial print environment is a plus.
Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements

The position requires standing and walking for extended periods and regularly performing hands-on production work. The employee must be able to bend, reach, grasp, lift, carry, and move printed materials, boxes, and supplies as needed.
