Restoration Carpenter

Description

R&B Restoration Carpentry, Inc. works on buildings dating from the mid-18th century to the mid-20th century and ranging from houses to farm buildings, churches, meetinghouses, offices, and industrial buildings. We are carpenters who love old buildings and traditional construction. We know how old buildings were put together and how to repair and preserve historic fabric. We can analyze the causes of defects and design appropriate repairs. Working with historical architects and engineers, we build additions and undertake wholesale structural repairs.

We are looking for a qualified carpenter to work on the restoration and repair of historic buildings in southeastern Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate will have formal training with Williamson, Thaddeus Stevens, the North Bennet Street School, the American College of Building Arts or similar, and have five years of experience working on historic buildings. Additional years of experience will compensate for lack of formal training.

The ideal candidate will display the capabilities to become a foreman with proper, additional training.

The carpenter is expected to have all of their primary tools, including, but not limited to, table and mitre saws, and to have reliable transportation. In time a company vehicle may be provided for the employee.

The work is physically demanding. Exposure to weather, heavy loads and risks to health and safety is expected. Safety training, PPE, and risk assessments for each job to minimize/eliminate risk is provided.

On the job training will be provided.
