Production Assistant - Handmade Dog Gear Brand

High Tail Hikes is looking for a new part time team member at our production facility in Oakland, California!

Hours: 10 hours/week to start at our warehouse in west Oakland. Candidate must be local. There may be opportunities for more hours as the business grows.

Pay and Benefits:

$20-$24/hr to start (DOE); regular opportunities for pay raises and/or bonuses based on performance and business growth.

Work Schedule/Hours:

Preferred schedule: 3-4 mornings per week between Monday through Fri. Work schedule can be flexible for the right candidate.

Location:

On site at our west Oakland workshop. Candidate must be local. Our studio is upstairs and is not ADA accessible, unfortunately.

We work on the upper level of a large, uninsulated warehouse that we share with approximately 30 other makers, wood and metal workers, freelancers, and small business owners. The environment can be loud, dusty, and hot and/or cold (depending on the season). Close toed shoes are required.

Job Responsibilities:

Order Fulfillment: Checking and packaging orders for shipment, dropping off orders at USPS and UPS.

Custom Order Fabrication: Production of BioThane leashes, collars, and other dog walking accessories using a variety of tools; training will be provided.

Inventory Management: Counting, organizing, prepping, and restocking supplies.

General Shop Help: Maintain workshop cleanliness (sweeping, trash removal, etc.) and other support tasks as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and be on your feet for several hours at a time.

Repetitive reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 30 lbs.

Hand-eye coordination and both fine and gross motor skills.

Visual acuity required for detailed work.

Is hard working and reliable, with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.

Is highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to learn and follow multistep processes.

Can work efficiently to meet production targets while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Works well independently but is comfortable asking questions when needed.

Is a team player and willing to pitch in where needed.

Multistep fabrication or assembly experience desired but not required.

Dog lover a plus, but not required!

Can I bring my dog to work?

Sorry - your dog will not be able to join us at our facility for safety reasons. We offer a lot of scheduling flexibility so that you can meet your dog’s needs outside of work!
