Project Manager
Description
Mills Builders is a Sacramento-based residential general contractor specializing in high-quality remodeling and renovation. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team.
POSITION
We’re looking for a highly organized, process-oriented Project Manager with a strong residential construction background. This position is responsible for keeping projects organized and moving forward, from scheduling and subcontractor coordination to client communication, change orders, and documentation.
The Project Manager works closely with the Field Foreman, who manages the day-to-day field work, to make sure each project proceeds smoothly, stays on schedule, and is properly coordinated.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum 3 years of residential construction experience, preferably in high-end remodeling
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Process and system oriented
- Able to manage multiple projects, schedules, and priorities
- Strong communication and client management skills
- Comfortable working with homeowners, subcontractors, vendors, and field crews
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
- Comfortable using technology, apps, and digital project management tools
- Able to establish, follow, and improve company processes and systems
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Interested in learning, taking on responsibility, and growing with the company
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Manage residential remodeling projects from pre-construction through completion
- Maintain project schedules and keep work moving according to plan
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, crews, and deliveries
- Work directly with the Field Foreman to coordinate field work and address schedule issues
- Anticipate project needs and make sure materials, subcontractors, and information are ready when needed
- Track progress, deadlines, and outstanding items
- Coordinate multiple trades and project sequencing
- Schedule and coordinate subcontractors and crews
- Communicate schedules, expectations, and changes
- Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors and vendors
- Follow up and help keep work on schedule
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients
- Communicate schedules, project updates, upcoming work, and changes
- Maintain professional and positive client relationships
- Respond to client questions and concerns promptly
- Coordinate client decisions and selections that affect the project schedule
- Keep clients informed throughout the project
- Prepare, track, and communicate change orders
- Document changes and client requests
- Maintain accurate project records
- Track costs, schedules, selections, and outstanding items
- Make sure information is communicated between the office, client, subcontractors, and field team
- Process and system development is a major part of this position.

- Help build systems that support the company as it grows
