Remodel Carpenter

Small but very busy Residential Architecture + Construction company looking for skilled remodel carpenter. Ideal individual will have or want to acquire skills in supervising employees & project management. Most work is in Woodland, Davis or Sacramento (midtown/land park/east sac). Looking to fill position to start as soon as available.

FIELD SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Be a dedicated craftsman who sweats the details and understands the value in taking the time to do something correctly the first time
• Must be able to execute and understand work needed from architectural plans & details
• Understand how to form and reinforce a basic foundation, frame an addition from floor to roof and understand how to put up temporary walls for support when inserting beams etc
• Able to install windows and exterior doors, install different types of siding, exterior trim & fascia
• Very solid interior finish skills like hanging doors, baseboard, casing & sills, closet pole and shelf
• Should have some experience working with electrical, plumbing and hvac or at least know how to work with it & around it safely & effectively
• Be aware of, be an example of, and enforce jobsite safety for all employees
• Be respectful and understanding in your interactions with our diverse group of clients & subs

SUPPORTING SKILLS:

• Supervise lower level employees assisting with daily work and keep them productive
• Has the ability to put together lists of materials & tools needed to keep work going day to day.
• Should understand or want to learn the whole construction process from A to Z
• Has the ability or wants to learn how to talk to, manage & schedule sub-contractors

POSITION DETAILS:

• Full time work, 8 hours a day Mon – Fri only, 7 am – 3:30 pm

• Be team oriented and happy to help with EVERY aspect of EVERY job. At a small company we all do whatever needs doing to get the job done. This can mean being in attics & crawlspaces, occasional digging and trenching, demolition and keeping the job site safe & clean by clearing debris, sweeping up and staying organized

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergo background check and have valid CA driver’s license with clean DMV record
• Reliable transportation to the job-site
• Your own set of general hand tools that travel with you daily to the job-site
