About the Opportunity
Lighthouse Exteriors is seeking skilled, self-motivated Repair Technicians to join our contractor network on an as-needed basis. This is an independent contractor engagement — ideal for experienced tradespeople who value flexibility, autonomy over how they work, and steady project-based income in the Metro Detroit area.
What You’ll Do
As a Repair Technician, you will respond to work orders to diagnose and resolve issues across roofing systems, gutters, siding, windows, and other interior and exterior building components. Responsibilities include:
- Diagnosing and repairing roof leaks and related exterior/interior building systems.
- Completing warranty callbacks within established timeframes.
- Documenting all work performed, materials used, and time spent on Company work orders.
- Communicating repair status and recommendations to Project Managers and/or customers.
- Handling tools, equipment, and materials in compliance with applicable safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Compensation & Work Structure
- Rate: $30.00/hour (approved hours)
- Invoicing: Weekly; payment within 7 business days of approved invoice
- Materials: Reimbursed at cost with prior written approval for purchases over $500 (receipts required)
- Work Orders: Issued per project; you choose which to accept — no minimum guaranteed
- Warranty Period: 45-day callback responsibility for defective workmanship
- Proven experience in exterior/interior building repair (roofing, siding, windows, gutters, etc.).
- Ability to supply and maintain your own hand tools and personal protective equipment.
- Valid trade-specific licenses and certifications (as applicable).
- General liability insurance — minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence (certificate required; Lighthouse Exteriors named as additional insured).
- Automobile liability insurance (if operating a vehicle in performance of services).
- Willingness to submit to a background check and pre-engagement drug screen.
- Strong communication skills and ability to document work accurately.
- Must be reliable, responsible, honest and demonstrate strong integrity.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Committed to providing quality workmanship and customer service focused.
- Either party may terminate the engagement with 30 days’ written notice.
- Contractor is responsible for all applicable self-employment taxes; IRS Form 1099-NEC issued as required.
- Non-solicitation agreement applies during engagement and for 24 months post-termination.
- Agreement governed by Michigan law.
