I’m a gay male homeowner in Austin seeking a dependable, energetic and hands-on person to maintain my property and assist with practical day-to-day tasks.
This is an active, blue-collar position—not a corporate or primarily desk-based job. No college degree is required. The right candidate may currently work as a handyman, apartment-maintenance technician, construction worker, carpenter, facilities employee, groundskeeper, property caretaker or self-employed tradesperson.
Responsibilities include:
- Minor household repairs, painting, drywall patching and installation projects
- Furniture assembly, hanging artwork and moving or organizing household items
- Routine property inspections and preventative maintenance
- Basic landscaping and exterior upkeep
- Meeting contractors and monitoring work at the property
- Obtaining estimates and coordinating licensed trades when necessary
- Vehicle upkeep, errands, deliveries, shopping and appointment support
- Helping with travel preparation and other practical personal-assistance tasks
- Maintaining tools, supplies, storage areas and project lists
Physical requirements:
- Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently
- Ability to occasionally move heavier objects safely with equipment or assistance
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work at modest heights
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach and remain on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to perform maintenance and landscaping work outdoors in Austin weather
- Ability to safely operate common hand tools, power tools and lawn equipment
- Sufficient stamina and mobility to move throughout the workday between repairs, errands and property projects
This position involves working closely within my home and personal life, so trust, discretion, reliability and personal compatibility are extremely important. I am a gay man and want someone who is completely comfortable and nonjudgmental in a gay household. LGBTQ+ applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
The position includes:
- Competitive full-time salary based on skills and experience
- Separate private housing in a single-family home or guesthouse
- Employer-paid health insurance
- Paid relocation to Austin
- Paid vacation and holidays
- Potential annual performance bonus
- Long-term employment opportunity
Applicants may currently live anywhere in the United States but must be willing to relocate to Austin. Please provide a résumé or brief work history, current location, examples of work you can perform, compensation expectations and professional references.
Final candidates will complete a practical skills assessment, background check, driving-record review and reference verification. A valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States are required.
